The longer we get into this current wave of AI music startups, the more collaborations we’re seeing between them and human musicians. We’ve written about Endel’s partnerships with Grimes and Plastikman, for example. Now Aimi, the adaptive electronic-music app that launched in 2020, has revealed its latest collaborations.
They are two musicians from Berlin’s electronic music scene: Dauwd and Gene on Earth. Both have provided what Aimi describes as “at least an album’s worth of sounds, ideas and musical motifs presented as one endless, constantly-evolving composition”. As with Endel’s artist partnerships, the emphasis is on music created by the humans, then arranged by the AI.
The results are part of Aimi’s premium tier, Aimi+, which launched in August with music from artists including Appleblim, Black Loops, Shanti Celeste and Tensnake.
