Humble Angel Records is the streaming-focused imprint launched by former Playlists·net and WMG executive Kieron Donoghue in 2018. Now the company is diversifying beyond simply releasing tracks by releasing an app.
Available for iPhone, it’s called Playlist Alert App, and is mainly aimed at artists, managers and labels. The app enables people to choose tracks and get notifications when they are added to Spotify-curated playlists, as well as tracking how they move up and down the running order of those playlists over time.
The app also monitors Spotify’s Viral 50 and Top 50 charts from around the world. The app is free to use: Donoghue told Music Ally that he hopes it can find a place on the smartphones (and wrists – there’s an Apple Watch integration for notifications) of artists and managers who can’t afford to pay for some of the bigger analytics services that include playlist tracking in their features.
