oberhasli deadmau5

Earlier this year, Joel ‘Deadmau5’ Zimmerman announced plans to launch his own virtual world called Oberhasli, using gaming platform Core. This week that launch is happening, with Deadmau5 putting on an in-game concert series starting today (15 October) to get it up and running.

The concert will see fans listening to a setlist of Deadmau5 tracks while moving through 13 ‘interactive worlds’ created using Core. There are also 20 other Deadmau5-themed worlds that have been made by other Core users – like Roblox, it’s a platform whose users can also download tools to make and share their own games using its engine – to explore.

A live meet’n’greet and branded avatars, vehicles and other items will also be part of Oberhasli. For now, one limitation is that Core is only available for PCs, but Manticore Games (the company behind it) says it is coming to console and mobile devices “soon”, which will open it up to many more people.
