Music Business Academy Africa

The Music Business Academy for Africa is a joint venture between Music Ally and iManage Africa, working with talent manager and entrepreneur Godwin Tom to empower the next generation of executives there.

Now there’s news of an interesting project from some of the students in the 2021 academy. It has involved inviting artists, producers and songwriters to submit their music, with five of each then chosen to take part in the academy’s ‘simulated record label’ run by the students.

The first EP came out earlier this year, and now they are crowdfunding a second, due out on 19 November. The students are looking to raise 8m naira (around $19.4k) to cover the costs of the release, since all rights – and thus royalties – remain with the creators as a key aspect of the project.
