Could you be the next Jungkook, V, Suga, Park Ji-min, Jin, RM or J-Hope? Apologies to half our readership: K-Pop label Big Hit Music’s new talent auditions are for “boys only” – and apologies to, well, pretty much all our male readership, they’re only for people born since 2002. But the news of what Big Hit is up to is interesting even for the rest of us.
Its search for “individuals with talent and passion who will be the next global superstar” really *is* global: the net is being cast far beyond South Korea. Youngsters are being encouraged to apply in one of four categories: vocals, rapping, dancing or producing – making sure to include a photo that “must clearly show your face without the use of any filters”. Which nixes any attempts by Generation X to sneak in using age-defying Snapchat lenses!
But anyway, the interesting point here is Big Hit recruiting globally, as it plans its next wave of artists.
