Spotify Video Podcasts

Spotify began testing video podcasts on its service earlier this year, but now it is opening up the feature to more podcasters using its Anchor app. “We’ll be launching on a rolling basis with a number of key creators, including existing podcasters who are expanding to video as well as video creators looking to extend their offering to Spotify listeners,” announced Spotify, adding that it will be commissioning more original video podcasts as part of the expansion.

Talking of video… Spotify has also launched an educational video and podcast series called Song Start, as an offshoot from its Noteable songwriter-focused initiative. Artists Phoebe Bridgers, Marshall Vore, Kito and Tokimonsta are on board for the first episodes to talk about recording demos.

In separate news, Spotify has also debuted two new analytics tools in its Spotify for Artists platform. Artists and their teams can now view ‘composite metrics’ for releases like albums and EPs, rather than just for individual tracks. There are also new ‘engagement’ metrics including streams per listener and trends for saves and playlist adds.
