Games platform Roblox has bounced back from its recent three-day outage with some impressive financial results.
The company generated $509.3m of revenue in the third quarter of this year, up 102% year-on-year. Meanwhile, its average daily active users in Q3 grew by 31% to 47.3 million people, who spent 11.2bn hours on Roblox. The average bookings (player spending) per daily active user was $13.49.
“We are happy to report that the developer community earned over $130m in the quarter and is on pace to earn well over $500m this year,” said CEO David Baszucki in a statement. However, Roblox is not yet profitable despite this growth, posting an operating loss of $77.4m in Q3 – up from $51.5m this time last year.
There are some music stats in the company’s letter to shareholders. Artist KSI’s launch party in August attracted more than 17m visits, while Twenty One Pilots’ virtual concert in September geneated “more than one million hours of engagement”, with nearly 14 million people buying the band’s virtual merchandise.
