TagMix is a startup that pairs videos of live music events with audio from the mixing desk: the idea being to improve the sound quality of the footage that fans shoot at gigs, clubs and festivals.
Now the company has announced a licensing deal with Warner Music Group: described as a “strategic partnership” which will also “see it given access to a selection of the label’s touring artists”.
That’s an important aspect, because those artists will be a crucial part of telling fans that the TagMix app exists, and how to download it.
It’s the latest agreement for the startup, which has recently also signed deals with the UK’s Music Venue Trust, and rights-tracking firm BMAT.
Although the app is for fans, TagMix is also pitching to the music industry as a way to make fan-shot videos more easily trackable as they get shared across social apps.
