UK songwriters body The Ivors Academy has announced the voting results for its members ‘Senate’, which will help guide its campaigns and other work.
It’s a good-news story of an industry organisation hitting its targets for diversity: 50% of its senators identify as female; 40% as Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME); and 13% declared a disability.
“The level of engagement and diversity of candidates has increased significantly on past years and is the result of the commitment we made to equality, diversity and inclusion back in 2019,” said CEO Graham Davies.
The election was part of a wider set of reforms of the way The Ivors Academy is governed, which were backed by 83% of its members in a vote earlier this year.
