Dua Lipa and Bad Bunny top Deezer’s listening charts for 2021

Expect a blizzard of charts in the coming weeks as the various streaming services reveal the artists, tracks and podcasts that were most popular with their listeners in 2021.

Deezer is one of the earliest – sensible, as DSPs try to avoid the marketing explosion that is Spotify’s Wrapped promotion – publishing its Best of 2021 lists. Sadly without any actual numbers though.

The top female artists on Deezer this year were Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande, while the top males were Bad Bunny, The Weeknd and J Balvin. The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights’ was the most-played track, and his ‘After Hours’ the most-played album.

Meanwhile, Deezer says that the ‘All Ears English Podcast’ was its top audio show of 2021. That’s interesting: a language-learning podcast for non-English speakers topping the rankings, and perhaps a sign of Deezer’s strength in non-anglo territories like Latin America.
