Distributor Believe has grand ambitions in India, as we saw recently when it rebranded Venus Music, the film-music label which it acquired in 2019, as Ishtar. Now the company has made another acquisitive move in India.

It is acquiring Think Music, a label from southern India whose catalogue spans both film, non-film and independent music, with a particular strength in the Tamil Cinema industry. Believe is describing the deal as a ‘staged acquisition’ (as in: happening in phases) and picked out Think Music’s popular YouTube channel – which has more than 11 million subscribers – as a particularly appealing facet of the partnership.

Believe is initially buying 76% of Think Music for €13m (around $14.7m), and will keep its current management team in place.
