Nigerian artist Wizkid was one of the early Afrobeats artists to gain prominence globally, both through collaborations with big western artists and through the organic growth of his own fanbase. He’s also one of YouTube’s poster artists from Africa, with more than 2.1 million subscribers to his StarBoy TV channel on that service. Now YouTube is going to be livestreaming the final night of Wizkid’s UK tourat London’s The O2 venue.
He sold the first night out in 12 minutes then the second in two, so it’s a hot ticket in the physical world. The livestream, on his own channel, will be this Wednesday (1 December). It’s part of an ongoing partnership between the artist and digital service, with YouTube having launched its ‘A Day In The Live’ series with Wizkid in 2020.
