WAW Muzik is a streaming service that launched out of Côte d’Ivoire for West African listeners in 2017, and has built a catalogue of 14m tracks including a UMG deal. Now it is relaunching its service, starting in that home market, through a deal with B2B firm Tuned Global. Existing partner, telco Orange Côte d’Ivoire, is also involved.
Tuned Global’s role is revamping the WAW Muzik app and handling its supply chain, while Orange is powering the service’s micropayments-based subscriptions, while offering free data for its users. The new app will be rolling out to other markets in West Africa.
As Tuned Global MD Con Raso recently told us, the continent is a focus for his company. “Africa is really exciting: we are seeing at least 5 or 10 people contact us from those markets each week,” he said.
