Fitness is now established as another way for artists to stretch their catalogue, messaging, and milestone events to audiences outside of social media and streaming. These generally more lycra-clad audiences are amenable to artist-centric fitness programming: in July, The Peloton x Spice Girls Artist Series, which coincided with the 25th anniversary of “Wannabe” preceded a fitness “festival” featuring big-name artist-themed workouts.
Now, “in homage to the band’s international notoriety,” fitness tech firm Peloton has created a global series of Peloton x Queen classes. The classes includes cycling, treadmill and strength classes, for which Queen’s bombastic catalogue seems entirely well-suited, along with a lower-impact Yoga class too (perhaps Queen have some chill B-sides we’re not aware of?).
The rock ’n’ roll tie-in extends to tour-like merch: “The Peloton x Queen Artist Seriesand Peloton Apparel collection” features fitness clothing that isn’t a million miles away from what you’d find at your local venue’s merch table. It all starts today, which gives subscribers ample time to get in shape before they throw themselves into some notoriously Queen-like seasonal partying.
