Music Ally is interested in Dapper Labs: the NFTs startup has funding from Warner Music Group, and spoke at the recent BPI Match Of The Day event about the lessons its popular NBA Top Shot platform might have for music. We’re also interested in Genies: the startup has signed deals with Warner Music Group and with Universal Music Group this year to create avatars and wearable NFTs based on artists. So, count us double-interested in the fact that Dapper Labs and Genies are now working together too.
TechCrunch has the story on their ‘The Warehouse’ collaboration: a place where users can “outfit 3D cartoon avatars that they create inside the Genies app with masks, shoes, backpacks and other digital accessories minted on Dapper’s blockchain network called Flow”. Most of these items will cost less than $20, although there will be a secondary market for reselling them potentially for more.
We suspect The Warehouse will be the first (and perhaps even the only) place people can buy Genies’ music-related NFTs created with its major label partners.
