One of the big moments in last year’s Glastonbury ‘Live At Worthy Farm’ stream was the debut of The Smile, a band including Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood. As they prepare to release their first album, the band are continuing the livestreaming thread with plans for a three-set broadcast from London later this month.
The group will play to a different seated audience in the round each time at the Magazine venue: 8pm on 29 January, then 1am and 11am on 30 January, with each performance streamed live, accompanied by a ‘cinematic film’ too.
Fans can buy tickets to watch in-person or online, with the Driift-produced show available on-demand for 48 hours from 2pm on the 30th. Dice is on board as the ticketing partner.
It’s a pointer towards how these companies see livestreaming evolving as a format/medium – something Driift’s COO expanded on in a recent guest column for Music Ally.
