As a new wave of Covid-19 restrictions hit the Australian live music business, a group of industry bodies is calling for more support from the government there.
This call is sharpened by the fact that the Australian authorities have just extended the ‘Temporary Interruption Fund’ created to support the local film industry.
“The Temporary Interruption Fund for the Film industry was today extended by $50m, yet the live music and entertainment industry’s calls over the past 18 months for a similar national scheme have fallen on deaf ears,” announced labels body ARIA, which is one of the groups lobbying the government.
“Australia now lags behind New Zealand, the UK, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Denmark and Estonia in delivering a solution to this issue.”
