If anyone had any doubt about The Weeknd’s status as a top-tier streaming star (spoiler: they didn’t) they’ll have been set straight by the early performance of his new album ‘Dawn FM’.
Released on 7 January, it helped the Canadian artist roar to 705m Spotify streams in the first two weeks of January alone. That’s according to Spotify Daily Data, which tracks these things.
Most streamed artists on Spotify in 2022 (As of. Jan. 15)

Its latest chart is a useful primer on the current upper echelon of streaming musicians, many of whose totals are driven by their entire catalogues rather than a brand new release (see: Taylor Swift, BTS, Drake, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber…)
As for ‘Dawn FM’ itself, at the time of writing (18 January) it has generated just over 306m streams, indicating that well over half his total from that first fortnight in 2021 was from back catalogue.
