Spotify has been around long enough now that its former executives pop up in all kinds of related companies. The latest example is Sachin Doshi, who spent five years as Spotify’s VP of content from 2011-2016, having joined the company from Universal Music Group.
After Spotify he founded a news-reading subscription service called Scroll, which was acquired by Twitter. Now he’s fetching up at podcasting startup Podimo as its chief content officer.
That’s the company co-founded by another former Spotify-er, Eva Lægdsgaard, which has been making waves with investors, most recently with a $78m funding round in November 2021.
Podimo’s thing is premium audio, with a subscription-based model for its catalogue of podcasts (including exclusive shows), audiobooks and children’s content. It’s also using a user-centric payouts model.
