Who wants to listen to a radio show by the president of a global collecting societies body, eh? Oh wait, that would be Björn Ulvaeus, who besides his CISAC role is also one quarter of ABBA. We suspect there will be plenty of listeners then…
Ulvaeus is the latest musician to sign up as a host on Apple Music Radio, with his ‘Björn from ABBA and Friends‘ show to air on the Apple Music Hits station. It’s a four-part series, with the first friend being Chic’s Nile Rodgers, who will join Ulvaeus for the first episode to swap anecdotes.
‘Mamma Mia’ playwright Catherine Johnson and the creative director for this year’s ABBA Voyage concerts Johan Renck are also set to appear.
“I have long wanted to ask some emotionally intelligent as well as intellectual people who know about ABBA about why they think our songs have lasted for such a long time,” said Ulvaeus.
“I’ve talked to several people about this already of course, but no one has come up with a really good answer, so I think that is in essence what this series is about.”
It’s a genuine coup for Apple Music.
