Spanish startup Moonai was one of our tips in our Startups Report last year (which you can read here if you missed it), before going on to be a finalist in the 2021 Midemlab startups contest, then pitch at this month’s NY:LON Connect conference. Now the company has officially launched its app.
What is Moonai? It’s pitched as “the audio app for period pain”, using a mixture of science-backed music and sounds, tracking features and advice to help people who suffer from period pain. The app has launched for Android and iPhone as a free download.
In her pitch at NY:LON Connect, CEO Laura-June Clarke said that menstrual pain affects as many as 600 million people, many of whom are frustrated at “the lack of non-chemical solutions”. She described Moonai as “a sort of Headspace-plus, but for women’s health”. The company plans to make money from subscriptions, including corporate deals for companies who want to make the app available to their staff.
Now the app is live, Moonai is focusing on raising a seed funding round this summer.
