Sony Music’s launch last year of a ‘Legacy Unrecouped Balance Program‘ for artists – later extended to songwriters – to pay royalties through to unrecouped musicians got a warm welcome.
We suspect a similar reaction will come for its latest announcement: a ‘Songwriter Assistance’ program offering counselling services and wellbeing resources to the company’s roster of songwriters.
It kicks off today, with hotlines across the world offering round-the-clock counselling for songwriters, with other support for issues including stress, anxiety, depression and family/relationship problems.
“We are committed to providing you with services that matter. The importance of wellness cannot be overstated, and with Songwriter Assistance, we look forward to offering a whole new level of care and support,” said chairman and CEO Jon Platt.
