Rights data management firm Verifi Media is kicking off its latest initiative, the Verifi Rights Data Alliance.
It has signed up some prominent music companies too: Warner Music Group, Deezer, FUGA and Unison are the first four members of the alliance, which plans to create “an orchestra of definitive data, with each player maintaining its own information while collaborating to create a symphony of media intelligence”.
WMG, Unison and Deezer will specifically be working on plans for “building a two-way data flow to and from DSPs and owners” to ensure music metadata is accurate and fit for purpose. Verifi hopes other music companies will join the alliance.
Verifi Media is the company formerly known as Dot Blockchain, and this week’s announcement reminded us of its deals back in 2017 with SOCAN, Songtrust, CD Baby and FUGA. Exactly five years later, Verifi’s new alliance continues that spirit of a partnership-based approach to tackling the challenges of music rights data.
