It’s Big Tech Financials week, with Amazon among the latest firms to declare their latest numbers yesterday. The company saw its quarterly sales grow by 9% year-on-year to $137.4bn, contributing towards a net profit of $14.3bn for the quarter. For 2021 as a whole, Amazon’s sales were up 22% to $469.8bn.

There wasn’t a new stat for Amazon Music subscribers, but in its financial announcement Amazon flagged up the recent Kanye West / Drake concert, which was streamed on Prime Video, Amazon Music and Twitch, with exclusive merch sold through Amazon Music and Amazon Fashion. A sign of the kinds of partnerships it’s looking to do with more artists.

There was also some news about Amazon’s Prime membership, which is increasing in price in the US: from $12.99 to $14.99 a month, and from $119 to $139 a year.
