CD Baby says its Pro Publishing service now serves 2m songs

For anyone who still thinks of CD Baby as predominantly a distributor for recordings, the company has a new milestone reminder that it works in publishing too. The Downtown-owned company says its CD Baby Pro Publishing administration service now serves more than 2m songs, and that its payments grew by 60% in the final quarter of 2021.

The service has been working with sister company Songtrust to collect royalties globally for a community of “hundreds of thousands” of songwriters and composers.

“Independent artists are savvier than ever about the advantages of protecting and monetising their original compositions,” said CD Baby president Joel Andrew, as he promised that the company will be expanding further (both geographically and with new partnerships) over the course of 2022.
