Snapchat’s parent company Snap now has licensing deals with rightsholders to power a growing collection of music features in its app. Now it’s taking another step towards the music industry through a partnership with Ticketmaster.
It takes the form of a new layer for ‘Snap Map’ – Snapchat’s in-app map feature showing people what’s around their current location. Ticketmaster’s layer will focus on upcoming live events including music, comedy and sports. People can buy tickets from within Snapchat, as well as inviting friends to come along with them.
Ticketmaster also has a ‘mini app’ within Snapchat where people can get ticketing recommendations based on their favourite artists and genres. This is not just a partnership in the US: Snap said that it’s rolling out “in more than 20 countries around the world”.
