PPL

The latest effort to broaden the diversity of the music industry comes from the UK, where collecting society PPL has kicked off a partnership with the Action for Diversity & Development organisation (ADD for short).

PPL will be providing funding and support for the body, which launched in 2020. ADD will be using the funding to provide mentoring programs; seminars on equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI); and help for companies recruiting senior management roles.

“We know there is a long way to go and how critical it is to ensure that equity stays front of mind when the media noise relents, but this is an important start,” said ADD director Danny Poku.

“We hope that, by providing financial support to the organisation, ADD can support as many skilled professionals from underrepresented backgrounds as possible and lay the groundwork for more diverse leadership teams in the near future both within PPL and the wider UK music industry,” added PPL’s chief people officer Kate Reilly.
