UK songwriting body The Ivors Academy is launching a new programme aimed at young songwriters and composers.
‘In The Room‘ is described as a “leadership development programme” for 18-24 year-olds, and is a partnership between The Ivors Academy, Youth Music and Help Musicians. The eight-month programme will focus on six songwriters and composers from diverse backgrounds, and will see them “develop their leadership skills, engage with the music industry and to work on paid research projects”.
“We have created In The Room as an incredible opportunity to be involved in decision-making that affects young creators’ futures,” said Ivors under-25 Academy Board directors Hope Winter and Imogen Williams in a statement. “You are the future leaders who will represent and amplify the voices of thousands of young music creators.”
