Music streaming services want to be more like radio, and often (eg Apple Radio) that involves getting artists to play the DJ role. However, artist Anz is going it alone with her own 24-hour radio station, built by her label Ninja Tune to celebrate her recent ‘All Hours’ EP.

“I’ve handpicked over 50 hours of tracks to keep you company whatever you’re getting up to, and there are 4 shows spanning the days + nights. each show has its own vibe and a stack of extra special jingles inside,” Anz told her Instagram followers as she announced the station. Ninja Tune is tapping Spotify for the music itself, using the streaming service’s web playback SDK and Web API to customise the show based on the time of day that someone is listening.

A clever touch, too, is the interactivity: “If you wanna get shouts in, select a tune or let me know about any new tracks you’ve found on All Hours Radio, send voicenotes and shouts to the request line on the site + i’ll build some in as we go along,” promised Anz.
