Music NFTs roundup: Instagram plans, OffBeat, SongBits…

How could NFTs make People Who Are Cross About NFTs even crosser? How about if Mark Zuckerberg is touting them?

Meta’s CEO announced yesterday that “We’re working on bringing NFTs to Instagram in the near term… over the next several months, the ability to bring some of your NFTs in, hopefully over time be able to mint things within that environment”.

Flippantly, Music Ally is already planning hundreds of NFT drops for our old cat, noodles and pretty-foliage photos. More seriously, this might be something that musicians can use.

Meanwhile, music streaming startup MonkingMe (which we wrote about in June 2021) has rebranded as OffBeat, and pivoted towards NFTs. “We can leverage the power of NFTs to create a rich music identity that represents them [fans] in the virtual worlds and become the best community for music lovers out there,” is the pitch.

More news: SongBits is the latest NFTs marketplace planning to sell fractional ownership in song rights, complete with backing from Eurythmics star Dave Stewart.

Finally, behold! The ‘multi-blockchain’ era is upon us! Siki is a “Multi-Media, Multi-Blockchain NFT Creation Engine and marketplace wrapped in a social ecosystem that streams NFT music, live streams and posts”.
