How can music companies offer meaningful support to people (including artists and industry folk) in Ukraine? European indie body Impala has published its thoughts this morning, including its list of initiatives across the continent for its members to consider.
“Please also support the Ukrainian music scene directly by sharing music from Ukraine; urging local radio stations to play Ukrainian music; creating playlists of Ukrainian artists and sharing them as much as possible; and supporting organisations such as the Ukrainian Music Export Office,” explained Impala, with a link to the latter body’s list of resources and information.
“We support all members who take their own action, whether it’s stopping or reducing economic activities with Russia or showing support for Ukraine in other ways,” said executive chair Helen Smith.
Impala is also calling attention to the Russian state’s decision to block intellectual property payments to the EU and other ‘enemy countries’, calling it “tantamount to piracy”.
