Music/tech startup Volta has raised a $3m funding round to continue developing its technology that helps artists give their livestreams some ‘extended reality’ whizziness. Pixelynx, the company founded by artists deadmau5 and Plastikman that has been a prominent mover in web3 circles, was one of the investors.

It was joined by Major Lazer’s Jillionaire, Beatport CEO Robb McDaniels and Techstars Music – Volta was part of the latter’s last cohort – in the funding. The company has built a tool that helps artists to use audio sources including MIDI controllers and DAWs including Ableton Live and Logic Pro to control visual effects in their livestreams. “We at Volta don’t think anyone has gotten extended reality entertainment right yet.

The only way this will happen is when enough artists have access to the tools,” said CEO Alex Kane. Volta has also published a new video showing how its tool works.
