Sony Music Group has announced plans to work with US organisation GLAAD on a series of initiatives focused on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people within the major label and the wider industry. GLAAD’s Media Institute will be providing education sessions for Sony Music’s staff and senior executives, and the label will be an official sponsor of this year’s GLAAD Media Awards in April.
Which is handy, because a number of Sony Music artists are nominated for the music gongs in that event: Brockhampton, Kaytranada, Lil Nas X and Arlo Parks. Meanwhile, Sony and GLAAD will also work on a series of interviews under the brand ‘ICONS’ focusing on LGBTQ artists, songwriters and producers.
