BeatBread is one of the startups exploring ways to provide musicians with funding outside the traditional label system. That includes automated advances through its ‘chordCashAI’ service, which has been used by distributors including UnitedMasters and Symphonic Distribution.
Now, fresh from a $34m funding round in February, BeatBread is making some moves to get closer to artists.
First, it has created an ‘artists advocacy council’ to pick the brains of managers, A&Rs and other industry figures. Dave Dederer (of The Presidents of the United States of America), Mike Caren (Artist Partner Group) and Diana Rodriguez (Criteria Entertainment) are among the brains who’ll give feedback on BeatBread’s plans.
Meanwhile, this morning BeatBread has announced a partnership with UK body the Featured Artists Coalition (FAC) to launch workshops, roundtables and other events for its members.
