You don’t *have* to sell music NFTs: you can give them away to fans if you want. That’s what the Coachella festival is doing: every attendee of this year’s event can claim a free ‘commemorative 2022 In Bloom seed NFT‘ that comes with perks including food and drink vouchers and limited-edition merch. It follows Coachella’s launch of (not free) NFTs earlier this year.
In other news, KlubCoin is a new cryptocurrency for the electronic music industry, complete with a “party-to-earn” slogan (a riff on ‘play-to-earn’ blockchain games) and partnerships with Amnesia Ibiza and Festicket.
Meanwhile, Snoop Dogg’s partnership with Gala Music – which launched earlier this year – is now expanding. He has picked two artists, October London and Jane Handcock, to join a new ‘Emerging Artist Discovery Program’ from the web3 startup. It was announced in a livestream where Snoop was joined by Ice Cube to talk about their plans for more NFTs.
