Spotify is rolling out its new video-based music discovery feed to users in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
The feed uses Spotify’s existing catalogue of ‘Canvas’ looping videos – the ones that artists upload to be used in the background on Spotify’s play screen – in a TikTok-style vertical feed of up to 15 daily recommendations based on people’s tastes.
Spotify has been testing the new feed since last year, which in the test is found on the home screen of its mobile app. Spotify is still describing the feed as a ‘beta test’, but the expanded rollout suggests that it’s working well so far.
It also has a social element: people can share tracks they find on the feed to social apps, complete with the looping video.
