Musixen is one of the startups that has been trying to provide a digital platform for artists to make money from their live performances. Based in Turkey, the company has just raised a $2m funding round valuing it at $20m, according to news site Daily Sabah.

Its investors include Plug and Play, Re-Pie Portfolio and Platform XIT, with the company keen to expand beyond Turkey to Europe and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) on the back of the funding round.

“To date, we have reached 1.3m downloads. There are more than 7,000 artists within our organisation,” CEO Çağrı Bozay told Daily Sabah, while hinting at plans to explore virtual reality and tokens in the future.
