Artist Beardyman is trying something new on Patreon: a membership tier for fans to not just fund his music-making, but to collaborate with him. The new tier for his existing Patreon costs £6.75 a month plus VAT.

“We will make a bespoke track inspired by your suggestions and influences,” promised Beardyman. “I will call you personally, we’ll talk about music, life and the universe, we’ll exchange inspirations, thoughts and influences, get inspired together, and what we make will be a song we have both had a hand in writing – and here’s where it gets REALLY interesting.”

How? 15 of these tracks will be released in a new album, and the fan co-creators will get a writing credit and a share of the streaming revenue – 10% of the sound recording to be specific. “No-one’s ever done anything like this before, and I really want to get this right,” said Beardyman.
