Snoop Dogg’s first move after acquiring Death Row Records was to pull its catalogue off streaming services. Why? He explained in an interview with Revolt.
“Because those platforms don’t pay,” he claimed. “Those platforms get millions and millions and millions of streams, and nobody gets paid other than the record labels.”
A slightly puzzling argument, given that Death Row is… one of those labels! But anyway, Snoop has plans.
“What I want to do is snatch my music off, create a platform which is something similar to Amazon, Netflix, Hulu. It’ll be a Death Row app.”
This all ties in with existing plans to make the label’s music available (and to sell new digital products) in the metaverse.
