We’ve tended to write about the climate emergency and wellbeing issues separately, but a new partnership between Universal Music Group and The Mental Health Coalition combines the two issues.
They have published a ‘Roadmap to Climate Change Mental Health’ which aims to help people to take care of their wellbeing amid the stresses created by the climate emergency. It addresses issues including eco-anxiety; eco-numbness; climate depression; climate trauma and PTSD (for example for people who have experienced a weather-related disaster) and climate grief.
The guide offers advice and further resources. There’s not a specific music angle, but it’s a good thing for UMG to be supporting.
In separate news, UK-based campaign Music Declares Emergency is expanding to the US, with a chapter there to continue its work stateside in nudging the music industry to contribute to tackling the climate emergency.
