Splice built its community with its subscription model for music loops, beats and samples. Now it is ramping up its partnerships with streaming services. In October 2021 it launched a series of music-making contests with SoundCloud, but now it’s also working with African streaming service Boomplay.

It has launched a ‘Splice x Boomplay‘ collection of sounds, curated by artists chosen by Boomplay. It’s part of a wider ‘Beyond Afrobeats‘ initiative launched by Splice, tapping artists and producers including Mystro Sugar, LeriQ and Dunnie to provide sample packs for its service. There also may be plans for another contest, judging by the ‘Stay tuned for our Beat Battle dropping” message on Splice’s Beyond Afrobeats page. That page also offers the latest stats on Boomplay itself: 69 million monthly active users – up from 65 million in January 2022.
