As music streaming services get deeper into podcasts, so the major labels’ in-house capabilities to produce these shows is evolving.
The latest example is Warner Music Group’s launch of an in-house podcast network called Interval Presents, headed by its SVP of digital strategy and business development Allan Coye. It has already announced plans for podcasts hosted by actor Lupita Nyong’o, musician Jason Derulo and songwriter Billy Mann.
While the network is in-house, the production will not necessarily be. Interval Presents is working with external production companies Snap Judgment, Awfully Nice and Double Elvis to make its shows.
The latter, best known for music/true-crime show ‘Disgraceland’, will be making a series based on the life of Atlantic Records artist Aretha Franklin among its commissions for WMG’s new network.
