US satellite radio firm SiriusXM’s latest financial results reveal that Pandora still hasn’t managed to reverse its long-term decline in listeners. Pandora had 50.6 million monthly active users in Q1 2022, down from 55.9 million a year before, and 52.3 million in the final quarter of 2021.
However, the streaming service is still growing its actual business, with advertising revenues up 8% year-on-year to $336m. Pandora’s number of paying subscribers grew only slightly (as in by 4,000 users) to 6.3 million.
As for the parent company, SiriusXM now has 32 million ‘self-pay’ subscribers, and 34 million overall. Its quarterly revenues grew by 6% year-on-year to $1.7bn.
