In 2019, jazz musician Mike Casey talked to Music Ally about how he’d grown his audience through streaming playlists. Three years later, his latest album is accompanied by a playful mobile app.

The album is called ‘Law of Attraction’, and the Android and iOS app has been produced with New Orleans-based startup Myxstem.

It enables listeners to play with each track’s stems, muting, soloing, panning and fading instruments while twiddling with tempo and loops. The app also includes sheet music for each song.

It’s being sold on Google and Apple’s app stores for $9.99, making it a premium product. In the past, music fans haven’t shown much interest in various music-remixing apps that have been released.

However, Casey’s album-app may be targeted more at fellow musicians, who might be more interested in playing with music interactively rather than simply listening to it as mixed by the artist.
