It’s fair to say that tickets for Harry Styles’ ‘One Night Only in New York’ concert this Friday (20 May) have reached the hen’s-teeth level of rarity. However, Apple Music is stepping in to offer a livestream of the concert for its subscribers globally. The live broadcast will be on Friday night, with an encore stream on Sunday.
Here’s the important thing: this isn’t just a one-off. In its tweet announcing the stream, Apple Music described it as part of “a new concert series with your favourite artists” called Apple Music Live.
So, it represents another step-up in Apple’s activity around music livestreams, having already worked with several artists on album-launch / listening-party events – and of course, building on its past experience streaming its iTunes / Apple Music Festivals.
