New Music USA is an organisation offering grants to musicians and music companies, run by former PRS Foundation CEO Vanessa Reed. It has just announced the recipients of its latest round of grants: $335k shared between 112 people through its 2022 Creator Development Fund.

It’s double the size of last year’s cohort, with the hope of helping more artists emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic with their careers and creativity intact.

Diversity is also a key part of the process, with New Music USA saying that 54% of this year’s recipients identify as women, non-binary or transgender artists, while 71% are BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color).

“The breadth of inspiring applications we received from across the country demonstrates the resilience of our community and the ongoing needs of individual creators to have access to resources in these uncertain times,” said Reed.
