We don’t often report on music business job appointments, but we make occasional exceptions when it’s a Music Ally alumnus: Juan Paz has been named as Global Head of Latin Music Business for Apple Music, Music Ally has established.
It’s a new role, and, according to Billboard, which also confirmed the news, he’ll continue to be based in Miami – an increasingly important city in the Latin music world – and is tasked with helping grow Apple Music’s roots in the region.
Paz was Head of Research & Special Projects here at Music Ally from 2007-11, and went on to head up key roles in the burgeoning Latin music space for Sony and ADA – where he built up their then-new Latin team – before this new role at Apple Music.
