zara larsson

We’ve seen countless examples of artists selling their catalogues to investment companies in recent times, but Zara Larsson is bucking the trend: the acquirer of her recordings catalogue is… herself!

The Swedish artist has bought her catalogue from Ten Music Group, the label which she signed to in 2011. Larsson will now be launching her own label, Sommer House, with licensing and distribution agreements in place with Sony Sweden and Epic USA.

By all accounts it’s an amicable deal, with Larsson thanking Ten Music Group for “making something happen that is so, so rare for a woman in the music industry – the capability to own my own catalogue”.

And while we said ‘bucking the trend’, the deal does also mean that Larsson may have the scope in the future to sell her catalogue on, if she wants to and the right opportunity presents itself.
