We reported earlier this week on the imminent US launch of Keychange, the diversity-focused music industry movement. Now we know more about how that expansion is going to be funded.
Believe and TuneCore have announced that they’ll be committing $250k to Keychange’s US operations. The funding was announced at an event in London last night, and follows the companies’ partnership with Midia Research on the second ‘Be The Change‘ report earlier this year, exploring the challenges faced by women in the music industry.
“The results revealed the reasons holding women back from success in the industry, as well as perception and value gaps,” said TuneCore CEO Andreea Gleeson. “Recognising that all genders need to play a role in improving equality for women and gender minorities, we’re thrilled to partner with Keychange, whose programming works as a complement to existing advocacy groups such as Women in Music, Shesaid·so and She is the Music, uniting all organisations towards one common goal.”
