Spotify is revamping the section of its app focusing on live music. It has replaced the existing ‘Concerts Hub’ with a new ‘Live Events Feed’ populated by listings from ticketing firms including Ticketmaster, AXS, Dice, Eventbrite and See Tickets.
The feed will be surfaced as a carousel within the home screen on Spotify’s mobile app, or people can find it by searching for ‘live events’ – clearly the former will be much more likely to drive traffic to it though.
The feed is personalised, so people will see upcoming concerts based on their listening habits. Based on Music Ally’s this morning (Dandy Warhols, Hot Chip, Primal Scream and Hurray For The Riff Raff) it’s working well, although we’ll gloss over recommending Michael Bublé when it’s not Christmas.
Spotify says it plans to continue adding more live features now the new feed is live. “We’ll work to even further integrate event discovery directly into the app, whether through more advanced search tools, new playlist formats, or new integrations into key surfaces—meaning event discovery is integrated right into the listening experience,” said product manager Sam Sheridan.
